Runners Mindset Program

Giving runners direction, motivation & inspiration in these difficult times

  • Previous
  • Next

We developed our runners mindset program as a response to help runners that were struggling with direction, motivation, and consistency. Covid-19 came out of left field and left many runners feeling as if they were on a vessel with no rudder. Those times were full of uncertainty, that naturally elevates anxiety levels for everyone, and can easily lead to an increase in negative thinking.

Our program helped many runners through those times, offered at that time as a stand alone program with daily sessions designed to empower runners and leave them feeling in charge of their running. We decided to add the runners mindset program content to our activacuity® app, with the same 21 day focused program for runners to follow.

Since you heard your summer races are canceled, you feel like a ship without a rudder and your compass is busted. But wait: is floating on the surface of the present moment, all that bad? The present is, after all, your mind and body’s, “happy place.” This exceptional moment in time is a gift, to mine the treasures existing within yourself. Runner’s Mindset is here to help you dig. ENJOY.

This new program addition to our ground breaking app is designed to empower your running experience, switching your mindset to a positive focus, and helps you keep motivated and connected whatever challenges may come your way. Runners Mindset helps you become a more mindful runner, and connects you to the new rewards of running in a world that has changed from what we once knew.

The Runners Mindset program contains 21 daily mindset activities that have been carefully designed to instill a positive mindset and set you up to keep motivated and connected! Each activity is accompanied by a workbook that we recommend you use to record your experiences, thoughts, and feelings as you progress through the program – the workbook has become a life changing journal for many runners.

Who provides this program?

The Runners Mindset program is part of a portfolio of mindset initiatives for runners from activacuity®. activacuity® is a division of Active at Altitude, who create experiences that educate, inspire, and empower an active, healthy, mindful lifestyle. Active at Altitude is based in Estes Park, Colorado, USA, and are one of the leading providers of running retreats and camps for adult runners. They provide women’s running camps and co-ed trail running camps for all levels of runners from all over the World.

Owner Terry Chiplin is also a Positive Running Coach, a Lydiard Level II Certified Running Coach, the founder of the Positive Running Movement, and has more than 22 years experience in working with runners’ mindsets and positive coaching.

Why a positive mindset?

Research has shown that pessimism ranks as the runners’ top mental roadblock. Negativity, whether it’s worry or doubt, often leads to self-defeating behaviors including slowing down, cutting a workout short, or other self sabotaging actions. Our program provides a 21 day positive mental training program for your training that will shift your mindset to empower your motivation and connection.

Runners mindset has made me a stronger and more joyful runner. It’s a great way to learn how to overcome the mental challenges of running and to be the best version of yourself.

We created a workbook to accompany this 21 day program. You can download the workbook and print it out so you can complete the workbook sections as you progress through the program. Athletes have found that using the workbook as a journal is extremely helpful to record feelings and experiences during the program. The workbook also doubles as a record to refer back to at any time in the future.

I have been doing this program for a handful of days now and I have noticed a difference in my outlook. I am more easily able to find and maintain a positive, open-minded outlook, even during a really challenging time right now. I am feeling the benefits beyond my running life and across all aspects of my day-to-day too. I am so grateful!

Rebecca B, KANSAS CITY, MO

So, I am about halfway through this program…and I am loving it! For those seeking a more positive, mindfulness-based approach to their running, I highly recommend this. The price can’t be beat, Terry is a great one to listen to, and the activities and journaling are wonderful – not too cheezy, totally inspiring, and – if you are looking to reframe the way you “pound the pavement” – a great way to reconnect with an activity so many of us cherish.

Jennifer, Wheat Ridge, CO

Day 1 of this 21 day program was amazing! I loved connecting to a very special run I did back in February which was a night trail run and it was absolutely enthralling and so much fun. When I reconnected with the run called the Yeti Nightmare Run, it evoked such strong and powerful emotional reactions.

ED G, Athens, GA

Honestly, I just finished day 1 and it was already worth it. You are so intuitive. What a great memory it brought up for me. Already my confidence is up and looking more forward (with less self-doubt) to my long run tomorrow. I’m all in!

Lisa T, Cranston, RI

I just finished the Grand Teton half and am so grateful I signed up for your program. It was a beautiful course – but not without its challenges, and your techniques really helped get me not only through the race but to a PR (of almost 2 minutes)! This was astonishing since, even though I’ve run 5 halves and 1 full marathon, I live in Florida and was quite concerned about the altitude shift. Your segment on that topic was so spot-on, and I also reviewed the laser focus techniques and “mind of a champion” ideas several times along the run when I felt myself doubting. I now also have a wonderful journal that I kept along the way of your program that I will refer to often, not just in pursuing my running goals but my life goals as well. Thank you again for helping me move along this journey so successfully!
